Aim of the Agriculture Department

The Agriculture Department, Govt. of West Bengal has given concerted effort towards increasing productivity and production of various cereals including maize, pulses and oilseed crops coupled with expansion of areas under pulses and oilseeds in the rice-fallow areas across the State with special emphasis on enhancement of farm income viz-a-viz improvement of rural livelihood in past few years. The gap in production and requirement of pulses, oilseeds and maize has narrowed down significantly through substantial increase in production. The Agriculture Department is implementing various development schemes, both centrally sponsored and under state development schemes, such as Krishak Bandhu (AI & DB), Bangla Sashya Bima Yojona (BSBY), Bangla Krishi Sech Yojana (BKSY)/ PMKSY, West Bengal Farmers Old Age Pension (WBFOAP), National Food Security Mission (NFSM), BGREI, RKVY, etc.
