Agriculture Department, Govt, of West Bengal is committed towards holistic development of Agriculture Sector in the state where more than 96% of the farmers are small and marginal. With a twin target of providing food security to the masses and to ensure adequate farm income to maintain a decent life, the Agriculture Department has implemented various development schemes, both centrally sponsored and under state development schemes, such as Krishak Bandhu (AI & DB), Bangla Sashya Bima Yojona (BSBY), Bangla Krishi Sech Yojana (BKSY)/ PMKSY, West Bengal Farmers Old Age Pension (WBFOAP), National Food Security Mission (NFSM), BGREI, RKVY, etc. Different agricultural inputs are distributed from different schemes to the resource poor farming community throughout the state. Advisory on weather forecast and pest & disease infestation is regularly given to the farmers. The Directorate of Sericulture with its target of cocoon and reeled silk productions continuously supporting the Seri-farmers and sera-entrepreneurs to uphold the superiority of the State in silk production and silk based industries.
